Making a difference
Community
St. Peter's is a growing, dynamic and welcoming parish of Catholic Christians nestled in
Oregon's lush Willamette Valley. We were established in Eugene in 1955 as a mission parish
and now currently boast than 200 families, including more than 20 original founding families.
As one of five Catholic parishes in Eugene, we constantly aim to live, share and make
relevant the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
Worship
St. Paul said, "though many, we are but one body in Christ." For the community of St. Peter,
we strive every day to live out this belief. Through word, song and prayer, we share in the
Good News of the Lord. And together as members in the Body of Christ, we gather as one
community in worship, rejoicing in the banquet of thanksgiving that is found in the
life-giving celebration of the Eucharist.
Service to others
Jesus Christ said in the Gospel of Matthew, "Whatever you did for one of the least brothers
of mine, you did for me." As disciples of Christ, stewardship and service to others lies at
the very core of our Catholic Christian identity. Members of St. Peter's are active with a
number of community aid organizations, including the St. Vincent DePaul Society's FirstPlace
Family Shelter, the St. John Bosco House for abused women and children, the Lane County Food
Bank and other charitable organizations throughtout Lane County. Guided by our participation
in the Eucharist, we become for a world that is hungry, "bread for others."
